What is to think like a political scientist? As far as my previous understanding of political science before taking this course was the basic understanding of how, why, where and when politicians started and who forms the politics. Breastfeeding is such a natural process. It is one of the best gifts a mother can give her child. Breastfeeding is such a great gift that is just keeps on giving all throughout a child’s life. Breast milk is a good source of protein and high in calories. The breast milk boosts the immune system, allows the child to grow big and strong, and even makes them smarter. Despite all of these positive aspects of breastfeeding, when people see a mother in public breastfeeding her child, they become a little disgusted. Breastfeeding in public is legal in the United States of America. Although, some people would rather it not be. People have left restaurants, told the mother to relocate to the restroom, and even suggested the mother to stay home†¦show more content†¦It is unsanitary and should never be a location to eat. Breastfeeding has been around for centuries and is legal, so why stop it now? Breastfeeding in public is a civil right and should be treated like one. There is a law in forty-five states that protects mothers and allows them to breastfeed in any location they are allowed to be in (Breastfeeding Laws). However, these laws do not protect them from discrimination from the public. Women are being denied entry into places because of being â€Å"indecent† while breastfeeding in public. There have been reports of women holding â€Å"nurse-ins† to promote their laws for breastfeeding in public (Grooms). Mothers who are breastfeeding that are being harassed by companies of a public place and are told to â€Å"cover up† or relocate are allowed to sue according to other laws (Solomon). Any mother does not want to have to sue anyone for the right to bond with her child while breastfeeding. Breastfeeding allows for mothers and their babies to bond. Whether a mother and her child are bonding in the privacy of their own home, or in public, it should be allowed no matter where they go. Breastfeeding brings happiness to both the mother and her child. Why should a mother have to lose the opportunity of bonding with her child in a public place just because someone gets offended?
